We end up with a social media strategy, a content strategy, an email strategy, a customer experience strategy and so many more and one vital strategy that can get left behind in our website strategy!
Ashley DeLuca joins me on the Brand It Girl Podcast today to talk about your website strategy and why you need one! In this episode we encourage you to think about your website strategy as a roadmap for your visitors to follow when they land on your website. The keys to a successful website strategy that we cover in this episode include:
KEY TO SUCCESS 1 | BE CLEAR ON WHAT YOUR END GOAL OR OBJECTIVE FOR NEW VISITORS IS.
Is it to opt-in to your list? Is it to book a discovery call? Knowing what action you want your visitors to take will help you to guide them with CTAs (Call-To-Action) which might be an opt-in form or a button leading to a call booking form or contact form.
KEY TO SUCCESS 2 | BE CLEAR ON WHO YOUR IDEAL CUSTOMER IS.
If you are really clear on who you are serving it will make it easier to make some of the key strategic decisions you need to make around colour, typography and the flow of traffic around your site. From here you can ensure that your brand messaging is on point and that the people you are targeting know that you are their girl right from the first moment they click onto your site!
KEY TO SUCCESS 3 | KEEP YOUR VISITORS ON YOUR SITE FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE.
This gives you extra time to make a great impression on your new visitor and helps to build up that like, know and trust factor. This can be achieved with flow on links throughout your site. So on your homepage you direct people to the next logical page with the next piece of information you’d like them to consume and then so on around your site until eventually they take that action that you defined in key to success 1.
KEY TO SUCCESS 4 | MEASURE AND TRACK YOUR STATS.
Using Google Analytics (or if you are on Squarespace, the Analytics dashboard is wonderful!) track your website stats each month to see what pages are performing well and it to see what pages you need to improve. Also if you goal is to build your list, make sure you track your subscriber numbers and also what activities you did each month that may have impacted on your subscriber numbers.
So regardless of if you are just starting out and you don’t even have a website yet, or if you have a website but you haven’t thought about strategy very much, now is a great time to take a few steps back and reassess your goals, who you want to reach and the roadmap around your site.
